R&L Archery provides transfers for internet sales, as well as shipping and transfers for in-state and out-of-state personal sales. With knowledge of the gun laws, we are able to help you secure your registrations, titles, and transfers the right way.

Vermont’s gun laws (revised in 2018) require a federal background check be performed (completion of Form 4473 at an FFL-licensed premise) for private firearm transfers between individuals other than immediate family. (“Immediate family member” means a spouse, parent, stepparent, child, stepchild, sibling, stepsibling, grandparent, stepgrandparent, grandchild, stepgrandchild, great grandparent, step-great grandparent, great grandchild, and step-great grandchild).

Transfer Fees

$60 – shipped to another dealer (includes shipping and insurance)

$40 – received from another dealer or other out-of-state source; background check (Form 4473) needs to be completed

$25 – in-state private sale transfers;  both transferor and transferee must physically appear, with valid photo identification and firearm
