Firearms Storage
R&L Archery is a Vermont State-Certified Firearms Storage Location, so if you need a secure place to store your firearms we can help you for as short or as long a time period as needed. R&L Archery is also an approved storage facility for firearms that are required to be relinquished for a period of time.
In 2014, the State of Vermont created a guideline for storing firearms seized by law enforcement or court-ordered to be relinquished. As gun enthusiasts, we saw an opportunity to help our fellow gun owners and ensure that any gun that was stored for an individual was also properly cared for and not just stored in a basement corner. We became one of the first certified firearms storage locations in Vermont. We also provide this service for gun owners who require temporary storage of their firearms due to any number of reasons, such as vacations, relocations, and estate settlements.
Each firearm is inspected, documented, and photographed, then placed in our fireproof, temperature-controlled, security vault for the duration of its stay with us.
FEE STRUCTURE*
First firearm: $13/month for first stored firearm
Additional firearms: $4/month per additional firearm
Ammunition: $2/month per box
Other weapons: $2/month (some exceptions may apply)
*Fees subject to change without notice
Gun Appraisals
Wanting to sell, buy, insure, or are just curious about the value of a firearm(s)? At R&L Archery, we appraise rifles, handguns, tactical firearms, and other firearms using the most up-to-date information about firearm values in the industry. We welcome the opportunity to give you an accurate appraisal, and have staff willing to travel to your home to assess an entire collection. Fees may be charged depending on the number of firearms appraised.
gun Transfers
R&L Archery provides transfers for internet sales, as well as shipping and transfers for in-state and out-of-state personal sales. With knowledge of the gun laws, we are able to help you secure your registrations, titles, and transfers the right way.
Need a gun transferred into the state? We do that, too. We can fax or e-mail our license to the dealer shipping the firearm, or you can download it here: R&L Archery’s FFL.
Vermont’s 2018 gun laws require a federal background check be performed (completion of Form 4473 at an FFL-licensed premise) for private firearm transfers between individuals other than immediate family. (“Immediate family member” means a spouse, parent, stepparent, child, stepchild, sibling, stepsibling, grandparent, stepgrandparent, grandchild, stepgrandchild, great grandparent, step-great grandparent, great grandchild, and step-great grandchild).
R&L Archery can help you through the firearm transfer process.
Transfer Fees
$60 – shipped to another dealer (includes shipping and insurance)
$40 – received from another dealer or other out-of-state source; background check (Form 4473) needs to be completed
$25 – in-state private sale transfers; both transferor and transferee must physically appear, with valid photo identification and firearm
Gun Cleaning
Once the hunting seasons are over, it’s time to clean the guns—a necessary chore, especially for muzzleloaders.
Doing it yourself? R&L Archery carries all the necessary solvents, brushes, patches, lubricants, etc., you’ll need to keep your gun clean.
Don’t have the time or inclination? Let us do it for you!
All guns and muzzleloaders must be unloaded before being brought into the store.
Optics & Accessory Installation
Let us mount your optics, sights, and other accessories! We understand how important alignment is when it comes to shooting. Even minor flaws in installation can become a problem with aiming, especially over long distances. Let us mount your accessories onto your firearms so you can get back to doing what you love—hitting that target! Installation of rings, bases, and scopes purchased at R&L Archery is always FREE!
Boresighting
Boresighting can save you lots of time and money getting your scope dialed in to the target. We can provide bore sighting services that will accurately align your scope to the target and get you on the target at 25 yards. No more guessing which direction the spray of dirt came from. From there, it’s a few minor adjustments on the range to set the scope at 25 yards and then accurately on to longer yardages. You’ll be shooting bullseyes in no time. Never miss a shot with our professional bore sighting services!
